Stolperstein Cleaning
The memorial plaques on the Stolpersteine are made of brass and will oxidize over time. This dulls and stains the surface, which can turn dark gray or even black.
To keep the Stolpersteine shiny and legible, they must be regularly cleaned and polished. Anyone can easily do this. Even stones that have oxidized completely black can be made to shine again in just a few minutes.

Anyone can clean Stolpersteine at any time. The Initiative Stolpersteine Frankfurt calls on all Frankfurt residents to clean the Stolpersteine twice a year:
On Yom HaSho’ah, the Jewish Holocaust memorial day, in spring and on the memorial day for the November pogroms on November 9.
